Life Meetings

Life’s big decisions are often not solo. When changes are happening or need to happen, especially with family or loved ones, having a third party to structure the conversation and help meet everyone’s needs can be a huge relief.

You Might Benefit From This If...

  • You are preparing to cohabitate: as roommates, as partners, as adult family members. You want to start off strong, with clear agreements and shared expectations, but aren't sure how to start.

  • You need to coordinate with your co-parent(s) about routine parenting and household management, or big decisions, and your current system isn't working.

  • Family life is challenging, and you want to shift your approach. You want to create a new normal that better meets your needs and supports your family.

Supported Process

Living situations and family decisions are some of the biggest and most tangled decisions we make. For these and other multi-party life events, planning out how to account for everyone’s needs and avoid arguments or hurt feelings is hard! Whether it’s for a one-time big decision or a recurring need for coordination and collaboration, I will focus on creating a process that works for everyone involved, so you can focus on your loved ones and your own well-being.

Thoughtful Facilitation

As an optional additional service, I can attend and facilitate at one or more of your meetings that use a process I design.

When facilitating, I strive to:

  • Trust and balance the voices in the room.

  • Acknowledge each contribution, accept the wisdom in it, and place it in a useful context.

  • Hold the big picture (goals and values) to guide the conversation thoughtfully and purposefully.

How does this work?

  1. To start the process, you'll share your contact information and tell me more about your situation.

  2. I'll send over a proposal, where you can choose your package (base price is $375, plus any add-ons). I'll send you a contract and invoice, and then we will schedule our first meeting.

  3. We'll meet virtually and talk through your challenges, formulating a direction for your life meeting.

  4. I will create a meeting plan to support you in living into your values and making progress on your challenges.

  5. We will meet virtually to go over your meeting plan and finalize it together.

  6. You'll hold your meeting! It might be the first of many, or just the one.

  7. We will debrief and make any needed adjustments to your meeting plan for ongoing meetings.

Life Meetings: Services
Friendship

“As we all adjusted to the new normal of everyone at home all the time during shelter-in-place, Rachel helped us set up weekly family meetings to help keep the household peace during this time.

She helped us collaborate to create new schedules, routines, and agreements around things like shared household chores, screen time, outside and exercise time, and homework.

Before establishing our family meeting routine, every decision had the potential to turn into an argument and there was an awful lot of whining going on around here.

Rachel helped us develop a way to work cooperatively as a team toward helping all members of the family get their needs met, leading to much less conflict and a lot more happiness in our home.”

-Dublin, CA parent, with kids ages 11 and 13
