Conventional vs. Creative Job Search

Looking for a job is hard. Some of us have a roadmap, and the rest of us know there’s supposed to be a map but never got a copy and have been trying to draw our own with mixed results.

Lots of career coaches out there are amazing distributors of The Map. They’ll give you the map, teach you how to read it, and tell you what your next destination should be. That is, they’ll tell you how a conventional job search should go, they’ll help you pick a career from a list, and they’ll help you edit your resume.
I don’t do any of those things. That’s why I don’t call myself a career coach. I call myself a process consultant, and I offer coaching for job seekers.
Some of us actually have to draw our own maps. The Map doesn’t work for our past, our present, or our future. That includes me. My resume is not what gets me in the door for job applications or interviews, and I have accepted that and figured out a way to have a great job search experience.
Some of us have been able to get together a decent map on our own, and some of us want or need support for figuring out how to find a job with what we actually have to work with.
If you know a conventional job search doesn’t work for you, but haven’t figured out what will, you’re in the right place. If you’re overwhelmed, frustrated, or maybe even unmotivated in your job search, you’re in the right place.
Your job search doesn’t have to suck.
For folks who want or need support for figuring it out, I am offering what one seasoned path-searcher and career-changer has deemed “an essential service”. My group coaching program is an affordable way to find community, structure, and the tools to create a process that fits you. With individual coaching, I can offer more focused, personalized support at a variety of commitment levels.
